Remembering Ruth Johnston - My Mom

July 8th marked the 5th anniversary of my mother's passing into eternity.  In some ways, it was deeply emotional for me to consider that it's been five years since I talked with my mom.

I wish I could have been with my father and sister to remember Mom together.  Being in Japan makes me feel somewhat removed and a bit isolated; but being able to spend the day with Nozomi, Zack and Ellie comforted me greatly.

In order to commemorate Mom's life, I wanted to post the handout and eulogy notes from her memorial service.  My sister, her husband and I shared our reflections that day in the summer of 2005.  If you want to get a taste of my mother's life, please take a look.  For the few that do so, I hope you'll be encouraged to read her story through the eyes of her children.

Ruth Evelyn Johnston (age 26)This photo of my mom is from 1960, at age 26, the year she married Dad.  He says this is his favorite photo of Mom.  I'm sure you can see why.

Believe it or not, there's even a better image of Mom.  In my mind's eye, I can almost see a vision of her dancing for joy before her Lord Jesus.  It's simply awe-inspiring.
